Steyr Model 1909 (Late Model)

History:

During the time of production some technical changes were made, and new patents were registered which have been marked at the barrel of the pistol.
Besides the new design of the grips following the changes of the company´s name, the barrel which was not spring-actuated (up to now) had been mounted in a way that after pushing the opening-lever a spring tipped the barrel up in order to throw out the cartridge inside. As the pistol had no extractor in normal design ( there have been some test-models with extractor though) this was an essential increase of safety during unloading the pistol.
Some small changes like the shape of the opening-lever or magazine-catch mainly were done due to manufacturing reasons.
There were wooden grips and long-barreled models available too.
