Sauer WTM.28

History:

In 1928 a modified type of the "Vestpocket Model" was put in service. This second type of the pistol was named "Model 28" which is marked by the number at the bottom of the grip.
The same time the fabrication of the first type was stopped because of the great success of the Walther-pistol model 9.
The major improvements were the minimized size and weight, the more simple construction and the istallation of a magazin-safety.
The model 28 was good success and the Sauer & Sohn vestpocket-pistol with most fabricated numbers.
About 30.000 pcs. of this gun have been built, up to the highest serialnumber of about 230.000-260.000. Because of this high serialnumbers other resources are mentioning or estimating amounts of about 100.000 pcs.
In between this production there was another type (closed slide) coming up with the same modelnumber 28, which seems to be more rare than the main type.
The WTM 28 was for sale up to about 1939 and costed about 27.- "Reichmarks" at that time according to an old AKAH-catalogue.
