Sauer Model 1919 (early model)

History:

After the company has decided to come out with pocket-pistols of own design , the model of 1913 in calibre .32 ACP , developed by Hans Zehner, was a big sales-success. So the company scaled down itīs succesful model to te calibre .25 in order to participate in the boom of small vestpocket-pistols. This pistol was released in 1919.
The pistol got a simple but, due to the strong spring, very reliable firing pin system. The firing pin spring is used as well as trigger spring, so is is possible to verify the system as tensioned by the outstanding trigger. Loading failures are highly avoided by guiding noses at the top side of the barrel.
The construction is exactly identical with the 2nd type of the bigger model of 1913.
About 24.000 pcs. of this first type of the Model 1919 have been produced, where the numbering started with no. 1 and the change over to the second type was approx. at no. 24.000 .
These guns were mainly produced for the public market.
