ÖWA Late Model

History:

In what would seem a rather late effort, since a large number of the early models had already been made, the company tried to improve the pistol's convenience.
The unreliable safety-slide, which moved easily inside the pocket and the position of which could never be told exactly, was replaced by a safety lever. In order to prevent mistakes of usage between the safety- and opening-lever, the opening-lever was moved to the other side of the pistol.
In addition, the base-pin of the hammer, which was fixed at just one side and was therefore easily bent by the force of the mainspring, was now fixed at the other side as well by fitting into a slot of the movable grip-plate.
The magazine-cut-off was changed too. Up to this time, it had fitted into a notch at the back of the magazine, which very often resulted in the magazine's dropping out of the pistol once the notch became worn. It was replaced by a slide at the bottom of the magazine.
Other small changes in design were much more cosmetic than practical.
At any rate, these improvements were of no use as the company was already dying.
