Robar Melior small model (model 1920/25)

History:

Around 1925 the company Robar put an uncommon variation of the model 1920 on the market, which was marked with the name "Melior" and the patent-numbers as well, but had significant changes in design.
It was an .25 ACP type, having the slide open at the top and still having the rear-sight dovetail-block for dismanteling. It is remarkable, that this dovetail-block is placed more to the front end compared to the other types, and is working as shell extractor as well. The internal construction though is following the typical Eibar design with internal hammer.
It is unknown, for how long or how many of these models have been made. But this type is kind of rare today, and it is estimated, that it was made during the 1920ies as tryout or possible concurrent product to the very successful Walther Model 9 of this time, or even just to participate in the commercial success of it. The external design, which is mainly following the Walther-pistol, seems to proof this.
But appearently the pistol was not accepted and the company forgot all about it afterwards.
