Mauser WTP 2

History:

After sucess with the revival of the model 1910 in 1934 Mauser redesigned the WTP-model too and released another type in 1938, which was named WTP 2. Since that time the old type was announced as WTP 1 in order to tell them from each other.
This model was even smaller and lighter than the preceeding one, it got an additional magazine-safety and a "loaded"-signal pin. Earlier types had grips of black hard rubber, later ones out of brown structurized plastic.
After all it was a very good construction and for sure it would have been a sales-hit. But in 1940 the machines and plants had been rearranged and prepared for war-productions and the production of the WTP 2 ended.
By that this pistol was produced just for 2 or 3 years and therefore just in smaller total amount.
