Browning Model 1906 (mid)

History:

Model with two safeties:
After some years of production the pistol got equipped with an additional safety-lever at the rear end. Main reason for that, besides the wish for an additional and remarkable safety, seemed to be, that it was rather difficult to keep the slide open against the force of recoil spring, when stripping the pistol. With a nose of this lever it was now possible to fix the slide in the rear stripping position.
This second, middle type can be recognized from outside by the slightly different looking safety lever compared to the third type. It was produced approx.between serial number 150000 and 180000 before it got enhanced to the third type shortly afterwards. This type therfore is to be found more seldom than the others.
