SIG Chylewski (blocked)

History:

Appearently the system of one hand action was not easy to sale.
There might have been two reasons for this. First of all there was the danger to release the first shot without intention by first time cocking the mechanism to rapidly. On the other hand the force charging both the recoils spring and the auxiliary trigger spring at the same time probably was to strong to place the first shot accurately.
Therefore the one hand action was blocked later on. As first solution the auxiliary trigger was fixed by a small screw running through the front bottom part of the trigger guard, where the normal recoil function of the slide was still working. This modification was done still by factory and we will find it already at serial- numbers below 500. But by some way it was of no use, as man simply had to take out or shorten the screw to reactivate the one hand function.
After that it seems the complete stock left over of these pistols was sold to some trader. Since around no.500 the signature of the company SIG was removed and the auxiliary trigger was fixed by a screw at the left side as well as the auxiliary trigger spring was removed.
After this rework the pistol was sold as "normal" Chylewski- pistol, but without any remark about one hand action or any mentioning of the manufacturer.
The exact date is unknown, when this second rework took place and the stock of leftover pistols was sold. Still it is estimated that this was later than 1926. This year the company SIG donated an original Chylewsky- pistol (No.181) to the winner of the "Eidgenössisches Flobertschützenfest" in Horgen. It is hard to believe, that sig donated a gun already out of common interest. Much more it is likely that SIG thought to place a good marketing effect by that.
It is unknown too, who bought the leftover pistols and put it on the marked as reworked ones.
