Theodor Bermann Erben Liliput Model I

History:

After in 1937 the company Lignose purchased the company August Menz in Suhl, which was for sale at that time, the pistols-production of the last production program of Menz was continued with the same machines.
The design was kept with no changes, but grips were marked with the new logo, and/or the slide got the new inscription "Theodor Bergmann Erben Waffenfabrik Suhl".
The use of the name "Bergmann" for former Menz-products appearently was for marketing reasons only, in order to make people suggest a "new" product with the well known name "Bergmann".
The Liliput Model I in fact is the former Menz Liliput Modell I in caliber .25, which was made by August Menz already since 1926.
The numbering continued where Menz has stopped.
As, for the first time of production, already existing parts were used, there are variations known with or without the new company name on the slide, as well as variations with older Menz- or newer Bergmann-Erben grip plates.
As the company disappeared from the market shortly afterwards, not many Menz-pistols with the new company markings were put on the market, therfore this variations are already a little bit scarce today.
