Model 68

History:

During the era of production of the "Vest Pocket Model" the pistol became redesigned to the "Model 68", where the changes were just less significant. The former flat rear side of the slide became round shaped and the design of the disconnector was changed. But the overall appearance of the pistol did not change. It can be told from the former Model VP by the markings at the slide and by the round shaped rear end.
As an option the extended magazine was still available too.
Same time with the .25 ACP Model also the "Baby"-Modell in .22 sh was redesigned the same way and renamed to "Modell 68".
The selling and import in the United States ended in 1968 due to the "Gun Control Act". But the production for the rest of the market went on as "Model 68" up to the end of the 1970-ies.
Exact figures of production are not reported, but there are more "Models 68" to find than the preceeding original "Vest Pocket Model".
Nowadays this pistol is produced again in licence by the American company "Iver Johnson" as Model "Compact .25".
